Artist Statement
This convergence quilt was pieced during my retreat to La Veta, CO in April 2018. I was able to spend seven days with my mentor and friend, Ricky Tims. During my retreat with Ricky, I visited his ranch at Autumn Rock. I was moved by the beauty and serenity of this magical part of the planet.
Since that time, a devastating fire burned through the area destroying much of the landscape. The raven is "bringer of hope" and the silhouette of the burned tree symbolizes the power of Mother Nature. I honour my time at Autumn Rock and hope this piece brings comfort and hope for the future.
