Artist Statement
In Canada there are over 3000 recorded missing or murdered Indigenous women and girls. In Alberta, there are 72 documented cases. According to members of the Alberta Indigenous community this number is much higher. Speak Their Names is a piece that was created to honour the beautiful souls of our mothers, sisters, daughters, nieces and friends. By speaking their names, may they live on forever.
