Show Categories

Functional Quilts are defined as bed or lap quilts of any style or design.

Large - The perimeter of the quilt shall be greater than 276 inches.
Medium - The perimeter of the quilt shall be at least 201 inches, but not greater than 275 inches.
Small - The perimeter of the quilt is a maximum of 200 inches.

Art Quilts are quilts that are 100% the maker’s own design. These categories must be a completed quilt using any technique and may be any size.

Embroidery Quilt - Embroidery quilts can be made by hand or machine.
Wall Hanging - A quilt designed to be hung on the wall.

Challenges are guild challenge item has a theme and must include a certain fabric provided to the members. Can be any size, technique and finishing.

Youth Quilts are quilts constructed by youth and can be any size or design.

Quilt constructed by a quilter less than aged 11.
Quilt constructed by a quilter aged 11-14.

Other Quilted Items is an open category is for other quilted items that do not fit the descriptions of the other categories. Examples include but are not limited to clothing, purses, bags, and other decorative or functional items involving sewing or quilting.

Group Quilts are quilts constructed as a team with two or more quilters.

Artist Statement

Many years ago I found this Godmother and just last year I decided to make her.. She is all paper pieced... each godmother made will be different as the sections a chosen at the roll of a dice. i.e. the crown, hair, forehead, eyes, nose, lips and dress. all have 5 or 6 choices. I presented it to the guild in hopes that others would do this project also.

Artist Statement

Every year I make a quilt that is donated to Quilts of Valour, and I try to always use Canadian fabric. The pineapple blocks were started at my mini retreat with my friend Liana. The neutral fabric was a little to busy for my liking, but turned the blocks into a scrappy feel. Using an old panel from the Northcott line a couple years ago made this quilt come together pretty quickly.

Artist Statement

Corey from Sew Manly Quilting taught us the techniques for his original design of Jellybean Row- Signature Houses of St. John's. A number of our guild members worked on this wall hanging at a fall quilt retreat and everyone's project turned out so different. My wall hanging was put away for a long time as other projects took my attention.

The quilt show gave me the incentive to finish it up. It was fun to meet Corey and hear his personal stories from St. John's and his love of the Jellybean Houses.
